It’s not a choice: AI demands privacy and innovation not privacy or innovation

With new General Data Protection Regulation coming into force in May this year, it’s more important than ever that organisations respect and protect consumer privacy. Nigel, who works for the organisation driving the new rules, maintains that they should not be a barrier to business enhancing innovation and can, in fact, be a spur. He’ll demonstrate how organisations can use AI to be both innovative and compliant, and why privacy and innovation should go hand-in-hand.

Nigel has spent over 30 years working in technology across the public and private sectors and now leads technology policy for the UK’s independent authority, set up to uphold information rights I the public interest. Before joining ICO he was a senior lecturer in computing at Glyndwr University, Wales. He is a member of the BCS and has held Chartered IT Professional status for 15 years.
